The welding program is designed to provide the student with the skills and knowledge needed in today’s welding industry. To be successful in the welding industry, a person must be able to adapt to work styles that require dependability, attention to detail, safety-consciousness, self-control, adaptability/flexibility, initiative, and cooperation.
The program combines hands-on welding experiences with classroom instruction in commonly used welding processes. Safety is emphasized in all areas of the welding program.
The AAS degree requires the student to complete 60 credits of coursework and features a complete welding curriculum, including all five welding processes (Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Gas Metal Arc Welding, Flux Core Arc Welding, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, and Oxyacetylene Welding and Cutting) with an emphasis on blue-print reading, metallurgy, and weld inspection technology. Hands-on welding performance is required to complete the AAS degree.

The certificate program requires the student to complete 30 credits of coursework and features a concentrated welding curriculum with emphasis on Oxy-Fuel, SMAW, GMAW, and basic pipe welding.

The welding certificate II is designed for the student who has prior welding experience and desires to update their skills; and requires students to complete 14 credits of welding coursework, which may be completed in one semester.

To be successful in the welding industry, a person must be able to adapt to work styles that require dependability, attention to detail, safety-consciousness, self-control, adaptability / flexibility, initiative, and cooperation.
The welding certificate II is designed for the student who has prior welding experience and desires to update their skills; and requires students to complete 14 credits of welding coursework, which may be completed in one semester.

If the test supervisor decides you do not have the necessary skills to retake the test, he will not let you retake the test, and will encourage you to seek additional training and or practice before testing again.
*Also note that if you are taking an all position test (3G and 4G) plate test your cost will be multiplied by 2x since you are taking two positions. For example if you were take the 1” unlimited thickness and all position test, your cost would be $800 since you will be required to weld out a 3G and 4G set of weld coupons.

Welder Certification and Qualification
Central Wyoming College can certify and qualify welders to structure and pipe welding codes and specifications. The college is staffed with two American Welding Society’s certified welding inspectors and shop supervisors to help you with your testing needs.
One hour practice time will be allowed to dial in the welding machine. The test supervisor will go over the welding procedure with the welder giving clear instructions. All test coupons will be tested in strict accordance with the applicable welding code and recorded on the appropriate qualification test record. Any deviation from the welding supervisors direction will constitute a failed test.
